Ridge Rim Renovation

For the past several months, our team lead, Nicole, has been busting her behind designing the Ridge Rim Reno for her clients. With putrid green walls, gaudy wall paper, and a severely outdated kitchen and master bathroom, this home looked more like a nightmare than a dream come true. However, it did have one spectacular feature: a fabulous view overlooking downtown St. George.

So began the head-to-to renovation project. Every nick and cranny of this property was gutted, with exception of the original hardwood floors and kitchen cabinets. Our goal was to create a space that was functional, fashionable and timeless that would not distract from the incredible views. Continue reading to discover if we accomplished our objective or not.

We began with removing the green paint and replacing it with a neutral palette. We wanted to create a space that felt clean and sophisticated without compromising on design. The inclusion of craftsman details in the custom wood work and glamorous lighting provides a warm welcome for the homeowners and guests a like. Fortunately, the original hardwood floors were in great shape and only needed a fresh coat of stain to tie the space together.

The fireplace was a fun project to take on. Although a considerably simple fix, adding a bit of custom woodwork and natural stone made the world of a difference. The additional three-dimensionality  breaks up the space and creates a charming focal point for family and friends to gather around.

Naturally, we regarded the kitchen as the most important room in the house and, therefore, spent a lot of time perfecting it. By refinishing the original cabinets, we were able to save quite a bit of money. We took advantage of the tall ceilings and constructed staggering cabinets to add weight and asymmetry with an appealing design. A stark contrast of dark stain set against polished white creates a space that is both cool and refined. Trendy subway tiles, timeless granite, and fashionable light fixtures combine seamlessly and provide a kitchen that our homeowners will love for a lifetime.

Ah the master en suite! What a glorious design! We’re obsessing over the oversized tub and ample natural light flooding the space. To keep the home cohesive, we continued the white and grey color palette paired with grey granite and dark stain on the cabinetry. Mosaic tile, pebble flooring, and an oversized shower head create a spa-like ambiance that is the perfect retreat from a stressful day.

The basement provides an additional two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchenette, and living space that is perfect for entertaining. We wanted to keep it fairly basic, yet homogenous in style and design that reflects the posh look upstairs.

And, of course, we wanted to design a space that really highlights the beautiful views of the area. Our homeowners immediately fell in love with this place, despite the outdated interior and saw past the garish wall paper and lackluster design.

After months of patiently awaiting the reveal, our homeowners are thrilled to call this place their home.
